NHS England webinar for Learning Disability and Autism partners
In May 2020 NHS England began holding weekly webinars for Learning Disability and Autism partners. These meetings provided regular information about the latest news, developments and guidance.
People First have attended regularly and have been able to feed into a number of consultations, including a workshop about shielding that was used for the daily Prime Minister's briefing.
A lot of information is shared so there isn't always the opportunity for many questions or discussion.
Some of the topics have included:
COVID shielding, testing, social distancing and PPE guidance
The COVID vaccination programme and priority groups
STOMP - Stopping over medication of people with a learning disability and autistic people
STAMP - supporting treatment and appropriate medication in paediatrics (children)
LeDeR programme
Accessible information and guidance
Integrated Care Systems and Boards
Oliver McGowan Training
Access to non-COVID health care services
Annual health checks and plans
Funding for voluntary sector organisations
National framework for autism assessment services
Down Syndrome Bill
As lockdown eased, the webinar meetings were held every two weeks. They are now held once a month.
